Stewardship

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace

Time, Talent, and Treasure form the backbone of the stewardship program at Ascension. Stewardship is seen as more than just the annual pledge drive, though that remains a critical part of the ministry. The committee aims to ensure that voices from across the congregation are heard regarding giving in all areas to Ascension.

The stewardship committee has worked to blend a fall campaign into year-round conversations. Each fall, starting in late August or early September, the stewardship committee asks members of the congregation to reflect on a yearly theme.  For a number of years the reflections have been tied to the Lectionary cycle, but this year, writers and speakers are responding to the campaign’s theme – Discerning God’s Call, Renewing Our Mission.

Throughout a ten-week cycle, writers and a few speakers (including the rector) share their why – why have they chosen to give of their time, talent, and treasure to Ascension? These writings appear as bulletin inserts and in the weekly @ascension email.

On All Saints’ Sunday, there is an in-gathering with members bringing their pledge cards to the altar. As the year goes on, there is a focus on integrating concepts with offerings that include Money Autobiographies, end-of-life planning, and stewardship versus philanthropy.

The Stewardship team is committed to providing guidance and a safe place for challenging discussions as we seek to continue to increase pledges to further Ascension’s work.
