Music is a vital part of how we worship and connect. Led by Interim Organist and Choir Director Glenn Stroh, our sacred music program brings a depth of beauty to our services. The music sung by the choir provides a spiritual atmosphere to the worship experience, singing anthems, hymns, contemporary selections from the Wonder, Love, and Praise songbook, as well as the occasional Gospel hymn. The voices of our parishioners are supplemented by paid choral students.

For special services throughout the liturgical year, professional musicians from area symphony orchestras join the service, both to accompany the choir and to provide solo instrumental performances.

During the Summer, the choir is on break. During this interlude, all members of the congregation are invited to participate in the summer choir. There are no rehearsals to attend during the week. This group enjoys singing the favorite hymns that the congregation has suggested to the organist.

Ascension is very proud of its musical heritage passed down through the years. The leadership, choir, guest musicians, and the Pasi organ have created a sanctuary of joyful, spiritual worship.

Martin Pasi Pipe Organ
For more than two decades, Ascension has been blessed to be the home of a magnificent pipe organ built by Martin Pasi in Washington state and imported to Texas to serve as the musical centerpiece of the sanctuary. The organ was a key part of a 2005 capital campaign, enhancing spiritual life and improving worship.
