How the Profile Was Created

Parish Survey

The Episcopal Church of the Ascension engaged Holy Cow Consulting to prepare and distribute an extensive survey to our parishioners. The survey was designed to help us understand the experiences, perceptions, and future aspirations of our members. These were offered both online and in person to reach as many of the congregation as possible. The surveys were completed in May and June of 2025. We had very good participation, with 142 completed surveys, representing 88% of our most recent average Sunday attendance. We are confident that the results reflect the beliefs and desires of our entire congregation.

Small Groups

Numerous focus group meetings were conducted after the surveys were analyzed. Over several weeks, 81 parishioners participated in the small group sessions, with an additional youth session representing the diverse membership and programs of Ascension. The search committee posed consistent prompts across these groups, creating 35 pages of notes, comments, details, suggestions, anecdotes, and prayers. 

The Parish Profile was prepared with the input from the surveys and small groups as well as additional interviews and research.
