Pastoral Care

"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this, all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”  John 13:34-35

Pastoral Care is how we live out compassion, encouragement, and healing—through clergy, lay leaders, and parishioners. Whether in times of joy, illness, or loss, we walk with one another in faith.

Clergy Care
Our clergy are available for visitation, Communion, Anointing of the Sick, Ministration to the Dying, and urgent pastoral needs. A dedicated hotline is available in emergencies.

Lay Ministries

  • Lay Eucharistic Visitors: Bring Communion to those unable to attend worship.

  • Ascension Prays: Members gather weekly to pray for the parish, clergy, and those in need.

  • Card Ministry: Sends notes for birthdays, anniversaries, new births, losses, and other special occasions.

  • Grief Ministry: Provides support, resources, and Journeying Through Grief booklets to those mourning.

  • Agape Meals: Parishioners deliver meals during times of illness, loss, or transition.

Additionally, Pastoral Care volunteers provide referrals, brief respite care, and other support as needed. At Ascension, caring for one another is at the heart of who we are.
