CHILDREN'S FORMATION
“You teach me the way of life. In your presence is total celebration.
Beautiful things are always in your right hand.” Psalm 16:11 CEB
CHILDREN AT ASCENSION
Beginning with the promises to support the newly baptized in their life with Christ, we see children as valuable members of our community. At Ascension, we strive to partner with families to foster a lifelong faith journey. Through the tools of wonder and play, we celebrate the spiritual lives of our children and encourage them to continue on their journey.

GODLY PLAY
(PRE-K - 2ND GRADE)
9:15 AM ON SUNDAYS | ROOM #105
Designed with our youngest worshippers in mind, this space offers a hands-on approach to understanding the Bible through storytelling, wondering, and art. Rooted in Montessori educational philosophy, Godly Play encourages openness, discovery, community, and relationships. Some Godly Play stories are told during one week, while others are told across several weeks.
CELEBRATE WONDER
(3RD - 5TH GRADE)
9:15 AM ON SUNDAYS | PAULA TUCKER MEMORIAL CHAPEL
Built around a child’s sense of wonder, Celebrate Wonder offers experiential activities, spiritual practices, and reflection to help children build a rich spiritual life. By embracing and celebrating children, Celebrate Wonder is designed to help children grow into whole people, as well as being spiritually aware.
CHILDREN'S CHAPEL
10:30 AM ON SUNDAYS
Children’s Chapel is a worship opportunity for children that allows them to move, explore, and wonder through the liturgy. Each week a crucifer leads children from the Nave to the Children’s Chapel (Room 105) during the first hymn of the 10:15 am service. Offered at a child-friendly pace, the Children’s Chapel liturgy includes the acclamation, collect, Gospel reading, creed, and prayers of the people. There is always a craft to go along with the liturgy. Check out a sampling of what it's like at Children's Chapel HERE!
All children ages 3 and up are welcome in Children’s Chapel. If you'd like to contribute to Children's Chapel, here's our WISH LIST!
SERVING IN WORSHIP
10:30 AM ON SUNDAYS
Starting in 3rd grade, children are encouraged to lead through service in our worship services. Children can serve as acolytes, readers, and greeters. For more information on participating in these roles, contact Eva Barraza.

COMPASSION SUMMER CAMP
MONDAY, JULY 31 - FRIDAY, AUGUST 4
8:00 A.M. - 12:30 P.M.
CHILDREN 1-4TH GRADES
All incoming 1st - 4th grade children are invited to join us for a week of Compassion Camp this summer! We'll explore what it means to have compassion for others, ourselves, and the world through music, Bible stories, games, crafts, and acts of loving-kindness. As we look around the world, our deep need for compassion becomes more evident with each passing day, perhaps now more than ever. Compassion Camp aims to cultivate compassion for each other, ourselves, and the world. We will examine different places in our lives where we can cultivate compassion. Using each Compassion Camp component, we’ll explore themes of compassion as they relate to each session’s scripture.
Be on the lookout for registration information in the coming weeks! Interested in volunteering? Contact Eva Barraza.
