“Be doers of the word and not merely hearers who deceive themselves.” James 1:22
Adult formation is designed to build a sense of community and connection between members of Ascension. Adult formation groups, sometimes called small groups, allow for deeper looks into scripture and faith practices. As a result, members of these groups get to know one another more deeply as well. These groups and opportunities help encourage lifelong growth and learning as we pass through the various stages and seasons of our lives together.
EASTER SEASON OFFERINGS
THE SOCIAL JUSTICE BIBLE CHALLENGE | A 40 DAY BIBLE CHALLENGE
April 5 - May 14, 2021
Easter Sunday marked the beginning of the Great 50 days of Easter. Our lectionary presents readings of the resurrected Christ reminding the disciples of the work ahead. As we contemplate how we can be Christ to others, we invite you to join us in reading Forward Movement's The Social Justice Challenge | A 40 Day Bible Challenge by Marek P. Zabriskie. "This important book bridges the gap between knowing the Bible and living it and the daily meditations connect their compassion to God's Word."
As a way of going deeper with this book, we've added a Visio Divina practice to each daily reading. Each day we'll post an image related to the scripture reading or reflection from the book below and on our social media pages. We hope you will participate in this interactive study that will take us deeper into this challenge. Learn more about Visio Divina and view the images HERE.
ADULT FORMATION | "I AM" STATEMENTS OF JESUS
Sundays @ 9:00 am Zoom
One of the distinctive elements of the teaching of Jesus is the way he expresses important truths in terms of his own personal character and mission. Unique to the Gospel of John are seven statements Jesus begins by saying “I am.” Join us as we unpack these statements using the curriculum from Seminary of the Southwest's Iona Center.
