"Lent is the Autumn of the spiritual life during which we gather fruit to keep us going for the rest of the year." St. Francis de Sales
The season of Lent is a time of penitence and fasting as we prepare our hearts and minds for Easter. Historically, Christian converts prepared for Holy Baptism during Lent. We begin this season on Ash Wednesday (March 5th) with an invitation to observe a holy Lent.
Many will choose something to forgo during this season, such as fasting. This discipline can help heighten our awareness of our blessings and accentuate the sacrifice of Christ. Ascension has many ways to engage throughout this season. Please join us in the offerings included below and in acts of service to others.
I pray we mark this holy season with devotion and discipline, and I encourage all to explore a new spiritual practice so that the season may deepen our faith and connection to God and one another.

Blessings on your journey.

ASH WEDNESDAY AT ASCENSION
Wednesday, March 5th
12:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. | Nave
Ash Wednesday is the first of the forty days of Lent, named for the custom of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of Christians. We come to this season with cluttered lives and conflicted hearts. On Ash Wednesday we begin to let go – learn to lay aside what weighs us down. Ashes, prayers, fasting, and opening hearts, hands, and minds, mark the Lenten journey that begins this day. Join us for our Ash Wednesday services at noon or 7:30 p.m. on March 5th.

Everyone has a calling—whether in ordained ministry, lay service, or community involvement. This series invites you to reflect on living your faith purposefully. Join us on Wednesday nights at 6:30 p.m. for personal stories from our community leaders. Dinner is optional at 6:00 p.m., with the program from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. We look forward to seeing you! If you're joining us by Zoom, please email Fr. Paul for the link.
