What drew you to consider vestry leadership at this time?
I want to make a difference in the leadership position so that the decisions will impact the parish in the long term.

In addition to your professional expertise, what unique gifts, talents, and experience would you bring to the vestry?
I bring administrative and organizational skills that will cross over to church with the business at hand.  Plus, and foremost, I will bring the skill of listening to both sides of a discussion and making a decision based on merit, not prejudice. I will respect others' positions and will expect the same from them.

What do you hope for Ascension over the next 3-5 years?

I would like the parish to continue as a vibrant, nurturing, spiritual place for people to gather. This will help children and adults develop meaningful and strong relationships with God.

If selected for this role, what activities, ministries, or areas of parish life would you like to be involved in?
- I will be involved in the everyday business of the church.
- Sustainability -  I will help develop a master plan for all systems in the church that will establish consistency toward long-term legacy management of these areas. These areas include landscaping, trees, irrigation, general building maintenance, roofing, plumbing, security cameras, audio equipment, etc.

How has Ascension continued to form and inspire your faith?
I have experienced good friendships, fun, solid preaching, super fellowship, and enjoyable worship services.

What drew you to consider Vestry leadership at this time?

I think Ascension has a long history of being in the local neighborhood and broader community, the hands and feet of Christ. I would like to help continue our commitment to wholeheartedly loving our neighbors while deepening our relationships as a faith community. I am also interested in ways we can continue to reach beyond our walls and penetrate the “white noise” of our culture to attract spiritual seekers from a variety of backgrounds to experience the presence of Christ in our parish, especially those de-constructing their faith and looking for a grace-filled place to plant roots and re-experience the Risen Christ through Word, Table, and Community.

In addition to your professional expertise, what unique gifts, talents, and experience would you bring to the Vestry?

In addition to being a lawyer, I believe my time studying at Perkins can give me some ability to offer insights that I’ve gleaned on maintaining our relevance as a Church in a quickly changing culture.

What do you hope for Ascension over the next 3-5 years?

For us to find ways to connect with and attract new people from various backgrounds, including young families, in our local neighborhood and the broader North Dallas area while continuing to offer quality worship and spiritual formation options as well as new types of activities to deepen the growth of our individual and communal prayer lives, with the hope that such spiritual growth in our community will lead to increased participation across our existing ministries that take us to offer real aid and hope to those at the margins of our city.

If selected for this role, what activities, ministries, or areas of parish life would you like to be involved in?

I would like to continue to be involved with evangelism and spiritual formation.

How has Ascension continued to form and inspire your faith?

I am continually thankful for Ascension’s commitment to reach out to our neighbors, especially the least and often, overlooked members of our community.  However, not only are we able to meaningfully do this through our various ministries, like the Food Pantry, Community Garden, meals at Austin Street Shelter, the bike ministry, and outreach to refugees, asylum seeks, and other immigrants, but we do so with such joy and love for each other in the process. These networks of "holy friendships” not only excite me for our work of kingdom building together but also for the future of our parish!

Being a part of and participating in decision-making as a representative for Ascension is fascinating and rewarding. It allows me to be a stronger member of our church.

In addition to your professional expertise, what unique gifts, talents, and experience would you bring to the Vestry?

I would love to see Ascension grow and connect to a wider range of the community. I want others to find this place as their spiritual home.

What do you hope for Ascension over the next 3-5 years?

Seeing how the Ascension community respects those with different viewpoints and beliefs inspires me to be a better person, and to seek a stronger connection both to the church, and to God.
