Join us in Welcoming
Mother Rebecca Tankersley to Ascension.

Mother Rebecca Joins us as our Eighth Rector

With great joy and excitement, Episcopal Church of the Ascension is proud to announce that Mother Rebecca Tankersley has accepted the call to be our next rector. She will be the eighth rector in our history.

Mother Rebecca became ordained in 2015 and has served at numerous parishes in the Dallas area. She was called to the Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration in 2018, where she is the Senior Associate Rector, overseeing the Outreach and Pastoral Care ministries. She takes particular care in identifying and welcoming new members into the “Fig Family.” When she joined “The Fig,” she was in charge of Christian Formation and Education, collaborating with clergy and select lay leaders to select, write, and teach classes and seminars for both youth and adult formation.

A long-time resident of East Dallas, Mother Rebecca practiced law in Dallas for sixteen years before her ordination. She worshipped at Ascension in the summer of 1995 as a law clerk, and has been involved with retreats, summer theater programs, and other events at Ascension over the years. She and her husband Scott reside in East Dallas, and have three children, the youngest in college. In her free time she is an avid cyclist, and she spent many Fridays riding with our former rector.

We look forward to welcoming her when she joins us in June 2026.
