FALL FORMATION: SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE

This fall, Ascension has formation opportunities for every age and stage, from our youngest children to our most seasoned parishioners. Whether you are looking to dig deeper into scripture, wrestle with the questions faith raises, or simply find a community to walk alongside, there is a place for you this season. We hope you will consider joining one of our offerings and discovering, together with others, what it means to keep growing as disciples of Christ.

CHILDREN'S FORMATION

9:15 A.M. ON SUNDAYS

Childcare is available for children under 4.

Early Childhood | Pre-K - 2nd Grade or 3-8 Years
Godly Play | Godly Play Room (formerly The Parlor)

Built around sacred stories and wonder, we use the Godly Play and the Following Jesus curriculum to encourage openness, discovery, community, and relationships. Both curricula are rooted in the Montessori educational philosophy. They offer our youngest worshipers a hands-on approach to understanding the Bible and our faith. Following Jesus brings in more New Testament stories, while Godly Play emphasizes the Old Testament. 

 

Journeying Through the Gospels | Older Childhood: 3rd–6th Grade or 9-12 yrs old

The 3rd through 6th-grade class uses Journeying Through the Gospels, a curriculum that helps kids explore the Bible and God’s Promises. The curriculum incorporates discussion, games, and, of course, snacks to make Bible study fun and interactive. The 3rd through 6th grades also complete service projects such as helping the Youth prepare Blessing Bags for the homeless.

Join us for real talk, genuine faith, and real impact. Through Bible Project, we explore how God’s Word connects to your world.

​

We're about action, too. Each month, we roll up our sleeves and team up to make a difference. Whether it’s putting together Blessing Bags for the homeless, helping out with the little ones in Godly Play, building furniture, or pulling off fun holiday events, we show up and serve. And we have a blast doing it.

​

We also make space for fun, friendship, and plenty of laughs along the way. Many of our teens also step up to lead in worship and help in Children’s Chapel, discovering how to live out their faith in powerful ways.

This isn’t just a youth group. It’s a community where you’ll grow, serve, and be seen.

THE NICENE CREED WITH MOTHER REBECCA

Sundays, September 13 & 20 |  9:15 - 10:15 a.m.| Office Conference Room

Join Mtr. Rebecca, for the launch of our Adult Formation series, starting Sunday, September 13th at 9:15 a.m. in the Office Conference Room.

​

For two weeks, she'll lead us through a closer look at the Nicene Creed and what it means to live it out as Christians today. This ancient statement of faith has shaped believers for over 1,600 years, and it's still worth wrestling with: what do we actually mean when we say "we believe"?​​

WOMEN IN THE OLD TESTAMENT
Sundays, Sept. 27–Nov. 22 |  9:15 a.m. | Office Conference Room

Meet the mothers, queens, prophets, and warriors of the Old Testament, women whose stories have too often gone unheard. Using Sister Irene Nowell's study, we'll explore well-known figures like Sarah, Ruth, and Deborah alongside lesser-known women like Tamar and Jezebel, and discover what their stories reveal about God and about us.  

 

MEN OF ASCENSION: THE WALK BY ADAM HAMILTON
Sundays starting September 20 | 9:15 a.m. | Youth and Outreach Center | Room 202

Join the men of Ascension as we study Adam Hamilton's The Walk, examining five essential spiritual practices rooted in Jesus' own walk with God: worship, study, serving, giving, and bearing witness to our faith. Each week we'll explore what these practices looked like for Jesus, how the New Testament calls us to live them out, and what they mean for our daily walk with Christ and our life together as a church.
