"When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single
bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me'." - Erma Bombeck
Ascension relies on the whole parish's commitment, leadership, and talents. When I first arrived here, I saw the beauty of the committee meetings simultaneously happening each month. The benefits of meeting at the same time are multiple. First, members can serve on various ministry teams but may only be expected to serve on one committee at a time. This practice has a secondary benefit...we must be recruiting new members to serve as well! Further, this system is collaborative. The chair of each committee meets with the clergy and vestry to share and work together. I share this model with other clergy, hoping they glean its wisdom. In this brief overview, I hope I've also highlighted our desire to incorporate new members into this system. In addition to the Estimate of Giving cards, our Stewardship campaign included a "Love in Action" card. Thank you to all who have already completed one of these. If you didn't get a chance to do so, additional cards are available at the Welcome Desk, located in the pews, or available for download here. Beyond this, I would gladly chat (or email) with any of you who may be discerning how best to serve at Ascension. I believe we are duly blessed in this calling. We are blessed by the service of those who have made commitments and blessed to be in a church where we can most often serve out of our particular gifts. May we each continue to respond to God's calling in our lives, serving others and our community. Blessings,
Fr. Paul
