Beyond the challenges of COVID, some in our world are facing particular hardships. As we watch the news, we may wonder, "What can I do?" Here are three things we can do together at Ascension.
1. Donate supplies. Refugee Services of Texas plans to resettle 324 families from Afghanistan in DFW, Austin & San Antonio in the next few months. Click here for a list of what is needed for each refugee apartment. Smaller items can be dropped off at church on Sundays or at the office during business hours. For larger items, like furniture, email Hope Harbeck.
2. Donate money. We are collecting donations to support those around the world in need, particularly in Haiti. You can give through Ascension by contributing online here and selecting "Pass Thru Contributions" under Fund on the form. Under Donation Notes, specify what you want your donation to go towards (either Haiti relief or Afghan refugees.) You may also send a check to the church, noting what Fund you'd like it to go towards. To donate directly to the Episcopal Relief & Development Fund for Haiti, click here.
3. Pray daily. Pray for those who are suffering from natural disasters and political turmoil. Pray for refugees and all who seek to serve those in our community and around the world.
