Join us for our first in-person worship service in the Nave since March, 2020.

Maintaining a high degree of safety has been at the heart of all our planning. All indoor offerings require: 1) a facemask; 2) use of hand sanitizer; 3) maintaining distance of 6 feet or more; and 4) limiting the total time spent inside. Reminders of these protocols are posted at all entrances at Ascension. There are several other considerations as we prepare for worship inside during COVID.  Protocols are listed when you register. Space is limited so register HERE

Ascension is hosting a baby shower COVID style! Dahlia and Ahmed are refugees from Iraq and are a Gateway of Grace family. They are expecting a baby GIRL in January 2021. Help us celebrate new life by assisting Dahlia and Ahmed with some of their newborn needs. If you would like to purchase a gift or gift card from Walmart or Target, please drop it off at the church office by Dec. 15th. Please consider going in on the more expensive items together.

The Ascension outreach team will be delivering these shower gifts to Dahlia and Ahmed on the weekend of the 19th.  Click HERE to view their wish list.

A Ride Home is back in business making minor repairs to bicycles and giving them to homeless people. We also need helmets, spare tubes, and tire tools.  If you have a donation, contact Fr. Ernie by email or call 214-207-0937. You can also contact Fr. Ernie if you have bike repair skills. He will put you to work!

Men’s Sunday Formation Class is kicking off a new book: Adam Hamilton’s: Seeing Grey in a World of Black and White    !!!

Everyone agrees that America is polarized, with ever-hardening positions held by people less and less willing to listen to one another. No one agrees on what to do about it. One solution that hasn’t yet been tried, says Adam Hamilton, is for thinking persons of faith to model for the rest of the country a richer, more thoughtful conversation on the political, moral, and religious issues that divide us. Hamilton rejects the easy assumptions and sloppy analysis of black and white thinking, seeking instead the truth that resides on all sides of the issues, and offering a faithful and compassionate way forward.

He writes, "I don't expect you to agree with everything I've written. I expect that in the future even I won't agree with everything I've written here. The point is not to get you to agree with me, but to encourage you to think about what you believe. In the end I will be inviting those of you who find this book resonates with what you feel is true, to join the movement to pursue a middle way between the left and the right - to make your voices heard - and to model for our nation and for the church, how we can listen, learn, see truth as multi-sided, and love those with whom we disagree."

We are excited to discuss a book with such topical issues, we hope you also would like to grow in your understanding and tolerance for those you may agree or disagree with… Please contact me if you would like a paperback copy.

Please join us next Sunday 11-15-2020  @ 9:00am we will discuss chapters 1 and 2 (if you’d like to just listen – no pressure to talk – no problem) via the Ascension Formation Zoom link information Father Paul sends out each Saturday evening via email the night before class.

The Wednesday book group has started reading and discussing  "Love is the Way" by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry this week. It's not too late to join the group.  If you'd like more information, please contact Fr. Paul.
