Dear Ascension Family and Friends,
Advent marks the beginning of a new church year. It is an energetic time of preparation and anticipation. Here at Ascension, our worship marks the season as we build the expectation of the Incarnation at Christmas! Please note our second service will start at 10:30. We hope the extra minutes help create time and space to connect between formation and worship. This new time will also help those serving prepare and allow for a moment of quiet contemplation before worship. I hope you will join us as much as possible throughout this sacred season as we expect the coming of Christ.

What divine mystery awaits on ordinary days, in ordinary places? As we work our way through Scott Erickson's book Honest Advent, we will find beautifully honest imagery and words that bring the moments in this season to life. We will find that the author creates and writes in a way that provides room. Room to be present with an open heart. Room to go beyond an intellectual understanding of this season. Room to approach each day with curiosity and expectancy. Books are available for purchase online.
Sunday, December 12 | 3:00 - 5:00 PM
Ascension Campus | Inside and Outside | All are Welcome!
The Formation Committee at Ascension is hosting Advent Festival 2021 on December 12 from 3:00-5:00 pm. As we journey through the season of preparing for the celebration of the birth of Jesus at Christmas, we invite you to pause with us and experience the joy of this sacred time of year. In a festival-like atmosphere, you and your family can learn about Christmas around the world, create mini Advent wreaths, participate in a scavenger hunt, and enjoy a special visit from St. Nicholas!. This event is for everyone with child-friendly offerings included. There will also be images in the narthex that support and feature the scriptures and reflections in Honest Advent by Scott Erickson, the book we're leaning into for the Advent season. Invite your friends and neighbors!
This event is free but registration is required. RSVP here!
THE LONGEST NIGHT
Wednesday, December 22 | 7:00 PM
In-Person and YouTube
For many who have lost a loved one, this season can be a time of profound loneliness. For others, who have lost relationships, their health, jobs, or had financial setbacks, it may be a time of pain and fear. We'll gather together on this longest night to worship God in the midst of mourning the losses we have experienced. Join us on Wednesday, December 22 as we gather to shed tears if they come, to hold hands if they are available, and to join our voices with one another in faith as we cry out together O Come, O Come Emmanuel.
If you're attending online please RSVP here and you'll be sent a YouTube link by the first week in December.
