Austin Street Centre located near downtown Dallas offers a multitude of programs. In particular, they offer an emergency shelter housing 425 men, women and children each night. Over 25% of those utilizing the emergency shelter at night have fulltime employment, but personal catastrophe in their lives has caused them to lose their homes. Austin Street is helping them get back on their feet.

In addition, Austin Street opened a transitional living facility in 2000 housing 40 men and women who are on the step-up work program. This program helps those employed, stay employed and improve their living situation through group therapy and other classes.

Ascension members assist Austin Street Centre’s efforts by preparing lasagnas and taking them to the shelter to serve residents living there overnight. This is one day of the month when the residents receive a hot meal.
