Website Style Guide

Notices for inclusion on the website can be placed usually within 24 hours, but please allow as much time as possible. Updates are handled through Andrew Marshall. In some cases, where a notice must be inserted immediately, please also copy Todd Rutenbar, who also has access to the Ascension website administration (email addresses and other contact details available from the Parish Directory).

Anyone wishing to include a notice for an Ascension event should email the complete notice to Andrew as early as possible before publication. Website updates cannot generally be done during the day.

Write your own text, using a standard word processor like "Word", or in the body of an email. Use "Times New Roman" script. Please do not format the notice, or use "publisher" or other similar publishing software, as this has to be unformatted, and sometimes completely re-written to match the Parish Notices format. Please supply photo images separately, and not embedded in a Word or other document - this causes untold headaches for reformatting. If you want a specific format please send the file as a PDF, in addition to Word document and any individual picture images (JPG preferred, but all picture formats are acceptable). Indicate where you'd like the pictures placing.

Keep the notice short and to the point, as it is easier to read and the message is more likely to get across. Several small pictures also help get the message across. Run a spell-check on the notice before turning it in! Remember to note when the information should begin running and when it should stop.

Fifth Annual Stults Elementary Book Drive

We will give new books to each student at the school in May. Ascension volunteers will festively wrap the new books for the students. Most of the students do not have many books of their own, so it is a real treat to get a new gift wrapped book from Ascension.

Our book drive is part of our partnership effort with the school and students to increase literacy and the love of reading. Stults Road Elementary has now achieved exemplary status two years in a row. Ascension has played a part in achieving that top status through our commitment as a partner.

Look for the Stults Road Book Drive table in the Narthex through the month of April. You may donate money for a discounted rate purchase or purchase books on your own. For more information contact Linda Cox at 123-456-7890 or email@sbcglobal.net
