ALLEGRO: Music for boys and girls ages
5 and 6, kindergarten, 1st grade and older.
First Wednesdays, 6:30 - 7:15
PM beginning September 7th, in the Atrium. A beginning fun
and interactive musical "experience" for young
children.
PRIMARY CHORISTERS for children entering
2nd and 3rd Grade
Sunday mornings 11:30 - 12:15, beginning
August 28th, in the Children's Chapel. These young choristers
follow a sequential approach to building a musical foundation
using Orff and Kodaly methodology. They focus on rhythm,
melody, movement, improvisation and instrumental experiences
along with their singing fun. Parents are invited to attend
rehearsals with their children. The children also experience
the Christian Year through music.
JUNIOR CHORISTERS for children entering
4th through 6th Grade.
Sunday mornings 11:30 - 12:15,
beginning August 28th, in the Choir Room. Junior Choristers
build on their experiences as Primary Choristers, expanding
their singing ability and musicianship. They follow a RSCM
training scheme, Voice for Life, which provides a structured
framework for developing vocal skills and musical understanding,
based on graded targets with informal assessment. They learn
about the worship practice of the church, the great hymns
of the faith and the structure of the liturgical year. Junior
Choristers sing on the first Sunday of each month at the
10:15 o'clock service.
TREBLE SCHOLA for girls 7th through 12th
grades, college age and adult women (by audition).
Second and Third Wednesdays, 7:00
- 8:30 PM beginning September 14th, in the Choir Room.The
very best of Ascension's treble voices and the most versatile,
preparing music of their own and combine regularly with
the Ascension Choir of adults. Treble Schola sings each
fourth Sunday of the month at the 10:15 o'clock service.
