SUNDAY SCHOOL KICK-OFF THIS WEEKEND:
Join us on August 29 at 9:00 a.m. for part 2 of our
kickoff for the Sunday School year! All adults will meet
in the Parish Hall with Mother Kai; all youth (Rite-13,
J2A, and Seekers) will meet in the upper building with
Kathy and Todd, and children will meet in the courtyard
with Amy Hofland and the other Sunday School teachers.
Whether just starting preschool, long since retired, or
somewhere in between, these programs will help cast a
vision for where you might grow in ministry and
discipleship over the course of the coming year. (Regular
Sunday School classes will begin September 12, after
Ascension at the Lake on September 5.)
SOUPER WAY TO SUPPORT THE PANTRY
TODAY (SUNDAY)! SOUP lunch following the 10
a.m. service to raise awareness about hunger in Dallas and
to raise money for our Food Pantry. We are asking for
everyone to come eat and make a contribution to the Food
Pantry to help sustain the level of giving through the
year. We distribute over 150 bags of food every month, and
the cost is about $10 per bag.
ASCENSION AT THE LAKE:
Join the fans who raved about the lake event in 2008 and
2009! Sunday, September 5 we will celebrate a
festive lake-style Eucharist at 11:00 a.m. at Lake Texoma.
(8:00 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. services will also be held at
Ascension for guests and those not wanting a day at the
lake.) Enjoy canoeing, swimming, and other fun
activities at our diocesan camp, All Saints, after the
worship service. Visit the Ascension at the Lake table in
the Narthex today for more information and to purchase
your tickets – which cover the catered lunch and camp and
waterfront fees ($10 for adults and children/youth over 10
years old; $5 for children 4-10; free for kids under 4;
maximum of $30 per family.)
