Austin Street Center (Feed the Homeless)
In addition, Austin Street opened a transitional living facility in 2000 housing 40 men and women who are on the step-up work program. This program helps those employed, stay employed and improve their living situation through group therapy and other classes.
Ascension members assist Austin Street Centre’s efforts by preparing lasagnas and taking them to the shelter to serve residents living there overnight. This ministry is offered the first Saturday evening of four months out of the year (November, February, May and August).
- Cook and travel down to the Centre with other volunteers to serve lasagnas on the designated Saturday four times per year.
- Purchase other needed food items such as fruit and bread.
- Assist with other activities such as collecting needed items throughout the year (i.e. clothing, and book drives)
No training necessary to get involved.
This is a great opportunity for young families with children to serve in a safe environment. Contact the leaders in charge for more information.
